Take Root: A Reproductive Justice Panel

As part of the Year of Equity programming, this panel brings together organizers, activists, and healthcare providers from national organizations red states to discuss challenges, approaches, and perspectives in advancing reproductive justice. Centering on the experiences and leadership of women, trans, and non-binary people of color, this panel will present latest community research, initiatives, and advocacy on reproductive justice.

In addition to the Year of Equity, this event is co-sponsored by the departments of Anthropology, Gender and Women Studies, Sociology, and Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Studies; the Office of LGBTQ* Resources, the Center for Health Equity Transformation, the Center for Equality and Social Justice, Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health, the National Advocates for Pregnant Women, and Kentucky Health Justice Network.

Office Hours With Shannon Bell And Ty Borders

In our final episode of Office Hours this semester, Sarah and Brian speak with Shannon Bell, a professor within the Department of Sociology, and Ty Borders, a professor within the College of Public Health. Both of them were recipients of Campus and Community Excellence in Writing Awards this past April from the Department of Writing, Rhetoric and Digital Studies.

Council Forum on Haiti Reconstruction: Matheny & Israel on the State of Healthcare in Haiti

On November 19th, 2010, the Council Forum on Haiti Reconstruction took place.  In a collaborative presentation, Dr. Samuel Matheny, the Nicholas J. Pisacano Professor and Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, and Dr. Israel (a graduate student form the College of Public Health) discussed the situation in Haiti and how the University can help.
