Matt Tremmel
Music Education

Matthew is a hard-working and diligent percussionist from Frisco, TX. He is capable of playing more than one hundred different instruments, has arranged over fifty ensembles for percussion, band and brass ensemble, and plans to teach high school percussion after graduating. In high school, he was president of his high school's chapter of the Texas Future Music Educators. In addition he was part of an elite group of students to enroll in a class called Independent Study and Mentorship, or ISM, where students are allowed to leave school, interact with professionals, and gain real world experiences. As part of his studies of music composition, arranging and show design, he was fortunate enough to interact with leading DCI and WGI percussion faculty such as Scott Johnson, Colin McNutt, Paul and Sandi Rennick, Mike McIntosh, Andrew Markworth, and Jim Casella. For his final project, Matthew arranged an entire A class WGI show under the watchful eye of his mentor for the last semester, Joe Hobbs, the percussion caption head for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. He is currently attending the University of Kentucky (the alma mater of his high school percussion director and role model, Rob Parks) majoring in Music Education.
