At the end of each academic year, the Society for the Promotion of Undergraduate Research hosts the Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars. The UK Asia Center wants to connect UK and India on an institutional level. Srimati Basu, an associate professor in the Departments of Gender & Women’s Studies and Anthropology and a member of the Asia Center Steering Committee, went on a trip to India to tour potential partner institutions in February 2012.
Karen Tice is a professor in the Department of Gender and Women's Studies. Professor Tice is giving a lecture on April 18th entitled Queens of Academe: Student Life and Campus Pageantry. The lecture is a part of a series put on by the Gender and Women Studies department. Professor Tice's lecture is based on her forthcoming book, Queens of Academe: Beauty Pageants, Student Bodies, and Campus Life, which will be published in March.
Susan Bordo is a professor in the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies at UK. On March 20th, 2012, professor Bordo will present a lecture, “The Queen with Six Fingers: Origins of Popular Myths about Anne Boleyn.” The lecture will be at 4pm in the president’s room at the UK Singletary Center for the Arts, and will address popular myths about Anne Boleyn, one of the wives of Henry XIII.
