College of Arts & Sciences Hosts Tech Fair

technologyAfter a successful showing last spring, University of Kentucky professors and staff members are invited to the university's second Teaching and Technology Fair from 2-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, in the Lexmark Public Room, 209 Main Building.

The fair, sponsored by the College of Arts & SciencesDivision of Undergraduate Education and theCenter for Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT), is meant to be a one stop showplace for a variety of contemporary technologies that can be successfully employed in the traditional classroom.

This second fair is a bigger and better version of last May’s event.  "This is a fine opportunity to learn of some innovative things that can be — and are being — done throughout campus," said event organizer and A&S Associate Dean of Faculty Ted Schatzki. "We encourage everyone to visit the booths to learn about using contemporary technology in your classrooms."

"Faculty are constantly innovating, changing up how they teach, tweaking their assignments," added history professor and CELT director Kathi Kern. "The Technology Fair provides an introduction to a great set of tools already available on campus. Its a perfect opportunity to ignite teachers’ imaginations. People are going to walk away, saying 'cool, I want to try that!'"
