The College of Arts & Sciences is accepting applications for awards supporting unpaid internships, education abroad, special research projects, and/or service-based or community-based learning opportunities for Summer 2024. Scholarship awards range from $500 - $3,000. Students applying for Student Experience Scholarships must secure an internship or education abroad experience for themselves. This opportunity itself does not provide an internship or experience.
Ethelee ’61 and John ’62 Baxter Scholars for International Experiences – Awarding Summer 2024 – Deadline to Apply - March 15, 2024 by 11:59pm EST
Supports travel expenses for students participating in international experiences including education abroad; internships; conducting research; participating in service or community-based learning initiative; and/or other internationally high impact learning opportunity.

John W. Boone Fund for Summer Internships – Awarding Summer 2024 – Application Deadline to Apply - March 15, 2024 by 11:59pm EST
The John W. Boone Fund was established to recognize the positive influence of high impact learning opportunities on students’ overall knowledge, critical thinking, and ethical and civic responsibility. This award aims to provide resources for students who want to build their professional resume, adapt new technology skills, and collaborate in a hands-on immersive learning experience, but may lack the resources to do so.
Eligibility:
- A&S Undergraduate Major
- 3.0 GPA
- Demonstrated Financial Need
- Junior Status (by the time of your travel)
- Plan to participate in an unpaid, non-credit-bearing internship for a minimum of 6 weeks

John Calhoun Wells Eastern Kentucky Scholars – Awarding for Summer 2024 Experiences AND Fall 2024 Experiences - Deadline to Apply – April 15, 2024 by 11:59pm EST
The purpose of this scholarship is to support students who have a drive to succeed and give back to their communities, regardless of GPA or academic accomplishment. Students accepted to a high impact learning program including, but not limited to, internship(s), education abroad opportunities, engagement in special research projects, and/or participate in service-based or community-based learning experiences may apply. It is preferred that student(s) participate in international and/or out-of-state experiences (i.e., outside of Kentucky) but it is not required.
Eligibility
- A&S Undergraduate Major
- Kentucky Resident
- No Minimum GPA
- Junior Status (at the time of your experience)
- Demonstrates Financial Need

- Faculty Letter of Recommendation (you will provide the name and email address of your recommender and they will receive an email with instructions of how to upload their letter) .
